the only thing that can actually come from this situation will be relieving the officials of their duties.
I hate it for Burton, after seeing that tape, there wasn't anything the player did wrong. He was excited, he scored, no fancy dance, no stupid gestures.
Just a stupid call, kinda like the Oregon game earlier this year.

Here's a quick one that I did.. video quality was TERRIBLE because the streaming function of the archived footage was just awkward and unresponsive. Some parts of the video were smooth as silk, while others - such as the highlights footage - were jumpy and couldn't be changed no matter how many times I tried to go back and reload the part of the video.

Anyhow, you can AT LEAST tell what's going on even if it's very jumpy, and I even included one touchdown previous to the game-winning one that - in my opinion - shows just as much "celebration" afterwards.

I hate it for the Burton kids...they were a good group of ball players...but let me tell you from expierence just a few weeks ago...an official can cost you the ball game it happened to our girls(Gate City Volleyball)...It just shows nobody wants our schools in Southwest VA to have a state title. Our schools are too small, is what I have heard!!!!! Well rising athletes...go out there and show them, that us in Southwest VA can and will have state bound teams again no matter how big or small our schools are....Maybe not next year or the next but look out officials Southwest VA schools are coming again!

Coach Colobro did the same thing a couple of years ago. He sent video to the VHSL and in return got a letter from them appoligizing saying that indeed there were calls made to affect the outcome of the game but there is nothing to be done. So I wish him luck.

I do not think this game will ever be played again.. reguardless if they protest or not.... the best thing that could happen is that the ref that made the call will be dismissed to please everyone and shut them up but Riverheads will retain the state title. I do not think there is even a chance of the VHSL stripping the title away and giving it to Norton or allowing the game to be played over.

I am sure that this game will never be replayed,it has never happened before(or maybe it has) I really dont know.But IMO if the ref is the cause of the loss of the game then Riverheads and Burton should be co-champs.What I want is for all those refs that were working the game that night to loose their jobs.They are absolute bufoons!!!!!!!Its not about the trophy its about a grown adult teaching children that it is ok to cheat one another and not to own up to your mistakes.
